I am not sure if the animals would work in the design but i really like the building tower design (2nd page bottom left). I think it would look good colorized or texturized i would also like to see a type study to see what font your thinking about using....
It seems that you haven't chosen a specific city yet. I liked Denmark on the first page from the second page I liked New Orleans, and Puerto Rico. In the Denmark sketch I like the idea of the icon, I can't decide if I think the year being cut off it nice or not. I think the icon represents the country well enough and it looks clean and simple. In the second page, I feel like the New Orleans idea is great the lamp and the fleur-de-lis within it is nice. I think that the fleur is a great symbol for New Orleans. I like this one the best. For the Puerto Rico one on this page I liked the placement of the landmark with the type. The one design I don't really care for is the first Puerto Rico one it seems too cutesy.
I agree with Gregory about using the animals and I also think you should use the Puerto Rico one on the second page with the outline of the building. Out of all of the designs the Puerto Rico design on the 2nd page is the best and I think you could have did a little more work and design on the the San Juan on the 1st page with the Frog.
Maybe I'm not familiar enough with the other locations but i think New Orleans could be a good choice. Lots of imagery and culture. definitely pic a location you think is best and start doing multiple sketches of the one city. look at the olympic logos if you haven't already because that helped me. Think ABSTRACT i noticed most of the logos are.
